Storytelling workshop – Filmmaking

22/02/23

This session we have talked about storytelling especially in filmmaking. First of all, why does people want to do storytelling?

  1. To entertain the audience
  2. People want to share their experience
  3. We want to reassure each other
  4. People want to create traditions and history
  5. Personally I think the most important part is to Express yourself
The mission statement

Your mission statement doesn’t need to be long and complex, it’s simply a promise—your statement of intention.
A mission statement needs to clarify the answers to the following two questions:

What do you do? What happens next and because of?

A good story needs:

  1. 1 or 2 character
  2. limited location/background
  3. a situation – “What is the problem?”
  4. stick with one time zone, don’t be too complicated
  5. a bit of ’ argy bargy’ – Conflicts
  6. An ending – resolution

The Character’s struggle:

Character vs Character

Character vs Environment (setting; community; against situation)

Character vs SELF
